Is twitter complying the new rules of the Ministry
Everyone has a question that is twitter banned in India, but according to the latest pieces of information and guidelines in the Information Technology act by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, every social media company should follow the guideline or they will be banned in India. There are officers appointed for monitoring and removing objectionable content from these company websites. And in this guideline, all social media sites have to give a monthly report in which they will have to reveal how they handled user complaints in India. And the government stated that if these companies like Twitter fail to follow the new guidelines then the government will initiate criminal actions and they will also lose their status and protection and the new IT rules are also applicable for all digital OTT platforms.
Twitter has appointed an interim chief compliance officer to follow the new Indian IT rules, these IT rules came into force by the end of May and are looking to regulate the social media content for more legal validity and this allows them to remove any unwanted posts if it is violating the terms and new officers were appointed.
This rule was created when the social media platforms did share fake posts during the pandemic period. Twitter also posted some posts relating to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and the central government and the government asked them to remove the controversial post relating to farmers’ protests. The Information Technology ministry has previously talked about Twitter and talked about all the bad things of Twitter in public and told the social media companies to follow the new rules.
China apps and the countries that banned them
On 2nd September the Indian government banned 118 applications which include most of the Chinese app and it also included the famous apps like we chat messenger and pubg game and Tiktok which was at the peak of fame in India was also banned and these Chinese apps had more users than what the Indian app has and the downloads were beyond expectations in India alone. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said under it under section 69A of the Information Technology Act it says about the Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public, and to remove digital threats they decided to block these 118 mobile apps which are suspected to be involved in activities affecting the sovereignty and integrity of India and also it is considered because of spying in India’s defence system, state security and public order.
